In June 2014, Dan Mossakowski chose to step down from his long-time role on the Frisco ISD School Board in order to pursue other professional and personal interests. FISD was lucky to have Dan’s decade of service, seeing it through some of the largest growth years in district history. Frisco ISD sought a community volunteer to step up for a one-year appointment to fill Dan’s seat until a special election could be held in May 2015.
On June 13, John Classe was unanimously appointed by the FISD trustees to fill Dan’s seat for the year, and John will now seek election to Place 6 in the May 9th election. John is pleased to have the unanimous support of the sitting trustees on the FISD Board for his election.

When the Board came out of closed session at the June 13 meeting, President Renee Ehmke expressed thanks for all of those interested in the process and the 13 citizens who expressed interest in serving.
“As a Board we have been very pleased with the number and the quality of citizens interested in serving on this Board,” she said. “It has made the process all the more rewarding and humbling, and also more difficult. As we have individually and collectively reviewed the interest forms and resumes of those seeking this appointment, we have carefully reflected on all that goes into being a Board member and representing the students and taxpayers of this school district.”
In looking at the candidates, Ehmke said the Board took into consideration whether the applicants had students in school; whether they intended to run in May; whether they had experience serving on boards or running for office; whether they were involved in the schools, the District and the community; and what skills, qualifications and motivation they would bring to the Board.
“Ultimately we had to choose the person we felt would work best with this Board in providing for all of the students in Frisco ISD and the person we could unanimously appoint to fulfill the portion of the unexpired term remaining until the next regular election,” she said.
In February 2015, John filed as a candidate for Place 6 on the Frisco ISD Board of Trustees. The election will take place on May 9, 2015. Click here for information about early voting and election day.
