Expanded Learning Opportunities for Students Announced at Board Workshop

At a specially held workshop, the Frisco ISD Board of Trustees received an update on new and expanded academic programs — the result of years of study by the FISD Curriculum & Instruction Department. The implementation of these programs deliver on goals outlined in the development of the 2015 Frisco ISD Strategic Plan and will provide an additional choice for any Frisco students who see these opportunities as a personal fit.

Among the programs slated for launch:

  • the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme at Frisco High School
  • the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme at Bright Elementary
  • expansion of Project Lead the Way (PLTW) as an offering for elementary students
  • a pilot of INCubatoredu at Centennial, Frisco, Heritage and Lone Star High Schools
  • the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program for Hunt and Staley middle schools and those students who then matriculate to Frisco High School
